Indiana Governor to Speak at National Summit
Gov. Mitch Daniels, a proponent of fiscal discipline and of public-private partnerships, has been confirmed as a featured speaker at the American Bankers Association Government Relations Summit, March 19-21, in Washington DC. Daniels will join key lawmakers, agency leaders and Chris Matthews—host of MSNBC’s “Hardball” and NBC’s “The Chris Matthews Show”—as the governor addresses fiscal challenges and keys to building a better economy.
Bath State Bank Submits Video Finalist Entry
“How to Save Money” was the theme of a video created by Indiana high school senior Brad Hartman, selected as one of 12 finalists for the “Lights, Camera, Save!” video contest sponsored by the American Bankers Association Education Foundation. Bath State Bank submitted the video, which was ranked as a finalist among a field of 178 entries.
The 12 final videos will compete for $3,000, $1,500 or $500 U.S. Savings Bonds; winners to be announced in March. “We are thrilled to see Brad progress to the top 12 in this competition for the ABA’s creative video,” said Bath State Bank President/CEO George Ferriell. “His creativity and graphic elements employed in the video enhance the message of the value of saving money.” View the video.
Website Wins Award
The IBA website was named Best Association Website by the Indiana Society of Association Executives at an awards ceremony Dec. 8. The site was honored for its direct benefit to members, esthetic design, easy navigation and strong functionality.

Kubacki Named Community Banker of the Year
Mike Kubacki of Lakeland Financial Corp. and Lake City Bank, Warsaw, has been named Community Banker of the Year by American Banker magazine. He was chosen “for his success in building Lakeland Financial into one of the industry’s top performers,” according to the publication website. Read more.
