Program Overview
This entry-level seminar is designed to provide new consumer lenders with the necessary underwriting and decision-making skills needed to make safe, sound, collectible consumer loans. In addition to secured and unsecured consumer transaction, home improvement and home equity loans are also included in the day’s discussion.
There are two main objectives of this seminar. The first is to the provide participants with a thorough foundation for safe and sound consumer lending practices. The second is to promote the importance and understanding of regulatory compliance through the entire consumer loan origination process.
A variety of consumer lending resources will be included in the seminar handout.

Who Should Attend
Community bankers and lenders who participate in their bank’s consumer loan origination process. Newly appointed loan officers and members of the bank’s credit administration and loan processing areas will especially benefit.
The program is approved for 6 hours of CPE credits.
About Your Presenter
John Cochran, John Cochran & Associates, Jefferson City, Missouri presents a variety of lending seminars to many state banking associations and individual client banks. Additionally, he serves on the faculty of several commercial lending schools. When not teaching, John provides consulting and loan review services to client banks. During his banking career, he served in a number of lending capacities including compliance and loan review officer, consumer and commercial lending, chief lending officer, and president and chief executive officer of a community bank.
Fees
The following fees include the program, materials, lunch and refreshments:
$225 — IBA Members
$155 — Each Additional IBA Member
$450 — Non-Members
As of Jan. 1, 1994, only 50 percent of business food and beverage can be deducted. For tax purposes the cost of food and beverage for this program is $25.

The IBA Center for Professional Development is located on the westside of Indianapolis just off of I-465. From I-465 take the 38th Street West Exit (Exit 17). When you exit go west on 38th street. Confirmation/Cancellation
Everyone who registers online will receive an e-mail confirmation after the registration is submitted. Within three or more business days prior to the day of an educational program, no cancellation charge will be assessed. Within two days prior, 50% of the fee is assessed. Refunds are not provided for cancellations or absences which occur on the day of the program. Substitutions are welcome at any time.
